Grouping elements
Grouping ties several elements together so they behave as one — move the group and everything inside shifts with it; re-time it and the members reflow to stay in sync. It’s the easiest way to keep a photo and its motion, or a run of shots and their narration, aligned.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Open a video in the Video Editor.
- Have the elements you want to group on the timeline.
Create a group
Section titled “Create a group”- Select the elements you want together (for example, several photos).
- Choose Group.
- They now move as one — drag the group to reposition it, and its members keep their order and spacing.
What grouping does
Section titled “What grouping does”- Move together — reposition the whole group in one drag.
- Re-time together — when the group’s timing changes, its members reflow so nothing overlaps or drifts.
- Stay in order — members keep their sequence inside the group.
Group + voiceover
Section titled “Group + voiceover”Link a group to a single voiceover so one narration plays across every element in it — ideal for a paragraph of narration over a set of interior photos. See Link a visual to a voiceover.
Ungroup
Section titled “Ungroup”Select the group and choose Ungroup to split it back into individual elements. Each keeps its current position; from there you can edit them separately.
Next steps
Section titled “Next steps”- Link a visual to a voiceover — tie a group’s timing to narration.
- Positioning & layering — arrange and stack the grouped elements.
- Scenes vs Full modes — where grouping and layering apply.
